Going to the Courthouse and We're Gonna Get Married
On Friday, June 2, 2006, Alan and I legally became husband and wife. We went to the Madera County Clerks Office with my daughter Savannah as our witness and were married by a woman in a small courtroom at 2pm. The night before I was talking to my Mom on the phone and she mentioned that June 2 was her late sister Pearl's birthday. My grandfather's name was also Pearl. I guess in the 1880's naming men Pearl was acceptable. Anyway, I decided to not tell anyone in my family that we were getting married until after the fact. I called my Mom when we got home and told her we had gotten married that afternoon by a woman named Pearl. Strange coincidences run wild in our family.
We had our "reception" at The Cheesecake Factory in Fresno. The main menu was Spicy Cashew Chicken, Orange Chicken, and Crab and Shrimp Salad. My "wedding cake" was a piece of Godiva Chocolate Cheesecake that was heavenly.
We had a nice visit with Savannah but she had to go back home today to get ready for her upcoming surgery. We had a little drama while she was here but I will save that for another entry.
I thought I would feel different being "officially married" but we have been together for so long no it seemed more like a formality. We said the traditional vows without the religious aspects and it was short and sweet.
I was hoping to get a phone call Friday from the surgeon's office telling me I had been approved for surgery. That would have been a great wedding present.
By the way, we are registered at Aqua Blue Pools in Fresno if you would like to make a donation to our pool.
Just kidding!

Me concur, you totally need a pool out there.
I love restaurants whose menus are small novels. Fried macaroni and cheese; now there's a beautiful thing. I've gotta go back there again to actually try an entree, and of course Godiva martinis never hurt.
